A year of transition is at hand for Colorado's oil and gas industry, if oil prices maintain the downward trajectory that marked the last months of 2014.
Oil prices have averaged about $100 per barrel for the last few years, but in 2014 dropped from a high of $106 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange to less than $60 per barrel. Energy analysts said the drop was mostly due to a glut of supply of oil around the world, coupled with slack demand.
