The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has given the state the green light to expand Chatfield Reservoir on the southwest side of Denver to store more water for the growing population along the Front Range and northeastern Colorado.
The project will expand the reservoir up to 75 percent and has been under discussion — and study — for more than a decade, Gov. John Hickenlooper said Friday in announcing the agreement.
