Gov. John Hickenlooper and U.S. Rep. Jared Polis announced on Monday a tentative deal to halt a steadily escalating arms race surrounding ballot measures aimed at Colorado’s oil and gas industry — but only if legislators hoping to punish cities that ban fracking pull their proposed ballot initiatives at the same time.
The deal also calls for the state to seek a dismissal of its lawsuit against Longmont over the city’s oil and gas regulations that were approved in 2012.
