Xcel Energy Inc. is at the top of the list for the amount of wind-based energy the eight-state utility has on its system, according to a new report from the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA).
This is the 10th year in a row the energy company nabbed the top spot. At the end of 2013, Minneapolis-based Xcel (NYSE: XEL) had 5,080 megawatts of wind energy on its electricity grid, enough wind power to meet the energy needs of about 2.5 million homes, according to the utility.
