If the idea of sitting in the hours-long wintertime traffic jams that are so familiar to Colorado's high-country skiers make you find other weekend diversions in Denver, then here's something that might change your mind.
The Colorado Department of Transportation on Friday announced a $35 million plan to build an extra "peak period" lane on the shoulder of east-bound Interstate 70, between the highway's junction with U.S. 40 and the Twin Tunnels on the east side of Idaho Springs.
