Cherokee Generating Station, Xcel Energy’s massive power plant in north Denver, is about to get a new lease on life.
Three new generating units have been installed at the half-century-old plant at a cost of $534 million. When those units go into operation, they will collectively generate 580 megawatts of power, enough to supply 435,000 Denver-area homes.
